LOCATION

  • Where is the Festival?
    • The Canberra Country Blues & Roots Festival is located at the Queanbeyan Showground, entrance from Glebe Avenue, (take the Cameron Road turn-off from the Kings Highway) 10km to the east of downtown Canberra.

    CLIMATE / WEATHER

  • What weather is expected @ the Festival?
    • Daytime Temperature averaging 25 C
    • Rain is rare for mid-November - but we have both outdoor and indoor stages
    • Humidity - not a problem as Canberra is inland with mild dry November climate
    • UV rating - we advise a hat as Canberra is approx 700m above sea level and prone to higher UV than on the coast
    • Overall = Spring/Early Summertime = fantastic!

  • How can I get tickets to the Festival?
  • How Much Are Tickets?
    • Earlybird Festival Weekend Passes are $55 plus booking fees/credit card charges
    • Children under 13 years of age at the time of the Festival are admitted FREE
    • 3-Day Weekend Pass after 30 September @ Ticketbooth is $75
    • Friday Pass @ Ticketbooth is $25
    • Saturday Pass @ Ticketbooth is $25
    • Sunday Pass @ Ticketbooth is $25
    • Special Discount Accommodation + Discounted Weekend Ticket @ Accommodation Partners Packages
  • What about Tickets for Children?
    • Children under 13 years of age at the time of the Festival are admitted FREE
    • Everyone else pays the same low Festival ticket price
  • Can I Come And Go As I Please From The Festival?
    • YES. Tickets and payment receipts are exchanged at the PrePaid Ticket Booth window at the Festival Entry for a Wristband that allows for pass out/multiple entry to and from the Festival - just don't lose your wristband!
  • How Do I Get My Prepaid Tickets?
    • If purchased from Ticketek you will have a receipt. If a Group booking was made direct to the Festival you will receive an email confirmation. When arriving at the Festival go to the "Prepaid Tickets" window and your Festival wrist band will be waiting. (You may be required to show ID as proof of ticket ownership). Sorry if this seems a bit tough, but it does save people postage, lost tickets and reduces wastage.
  • Are There Day Tickets to the Festival?
    • Yes, Tickets are available Online @ Ticketbooth
    • Yes, at the Ticket Office @ the Festival entrance on Festival days
    • Please note that Day Tickets are not as good value for money compared to the Earlybird Festival Weekend Pass
  • I only want to attend the Celebrity Concert on Friday or Saturday night. Can I get a Saturday night ticket only instead of a Weeked Pass or Full Day Ticket?
    • YES. Saturday Night tickets are available @ $25 direct from the Festival site Ticket Entry
  • How can I get discounted tickets to the Festival?
    • Earlybird Tickets are available up to 30 September Online @ Ticketbooth
    • Various Group/Club ticket and onsite camping booking discounts can be booked here
  • What Groups/Clubs get discounted tickets to the Festival?
    • Groups and Clubs are invited or apply for discounted tickets through a Group/Club Bookings handled directly by the Festival
    • Groups/Clubs using this system include:
      • RV/Caravan groups - Happy Wheelers, Highway Wanderers, Riverlanders, ATCMCA, etc
      • Music Clubs - Country Music, Bluegrass, Folk, Weekend Warriors, etc
      • Dance Clubs/Groups - various Linedancing, Clogging and Bush Dance groups
      • Car/Touring Clubs - Ute Clubs, 4WD, Ulysses, NRMA, RACV, RACQ, RAA, others

  • What Types Of Accommodation Are Available @ the Festival?

    CAMPING

  • Is Camping Available @ the Festival?
    • The site of the Canberra Country Blues & Roots Festival, Queanbeyan Showground has inexpensive powered and unpowered camp sites, with additional camping located at Exhibition Park in Canberra (EPIC) and Carotel if required.
    • Basic amenities of showers and toilets are onsite, although there are no laundry facilities. There is a caravan/motorhome chemical waste drop
    • Please note that powered campsites must be reserved and paid for pre-festival so we have all infrastructure ready in advance - see Camping Webpage.
    • Sunrise is around 5:15am and we suggest showers on Saturday and Sunday before 8am when the Bush Poets breakfast begins. Otherwise take a shower late evening/midnight or with the Ute Muster fellas say "who needs a shower anyway?"
    • Earliest checkin is 5pm Thursday immediately prior to the Festival with latest checkout being 11am Monday immediately after the Festival. For longer camping periods outside these dates please check the alternate commercial Camping Options.
    • Please avoid dissapointment and book early - not only do you get the discounted Earlybird Festival Weekend Pass, but also a guaranteed camping site.

  • How Can I Have My Campsite Located With My Friends Campsite @ the Festival?
    • We can only allocate friends and groups where tickets and camping are booked directly with the Festival - Camping Bookings Click Here
    • If part of a recognised Group/Club then use the Group/Club Registration Procedures and we will ensure you are located together with other members of your Group/Club in the camping area.

  • Can I Camp Overnight In My Ute, Small Tent or Swag @ the Festival?
    • Yes, but you need to pay the unpowered camping fee that also provides for use of toilets and showers
    • We prefer you to sleep over onsite, especially if you may have enjoyed the Bar a bit more than the law or safety allows for driving
    • Make the ticket and camping booking by checking out the details at Camping Tent or Swag to get both discounted Festival tickets and weekend camping reservations.

  • Pets? Can I Bring My Dog or Cat to the Camping Area, Muster and the Festival?
    • Yes, for the Camping Area. we are "Pet Friendly", but your dog or cat must be on a secured leash at all times
    • Yes, for the Ute Van + Truck Muster. we are "Pet Friendly", but your dog or cat must be in the vehicle cabin or on a secured leash at all times
    • Only trained guide dogs, display dogs and Customs sniffer dogs are allowed in the Festival buildings, performance areas, displays and markets - and then also on a secured leash.
  • How far are the shops from the camping area?
    • During 2012 we will have basic provisions at the Festival Shop
    • Most other items are available in Queanbeyan shops within walking distance
  • Can I Pay By Credit Card For Camping And Tickets?
    • Yes, please use the Registration Form Online Heres.
    • Once the credit card payment is cleared with our financial partner ("SIRA International" will be noted on your credit card statement) we then issue the ticket/s via email

  • Can I Pay By Cheque Or Money Order For Camping And Tickets?
    • Yes, please use the forms that can be downloaded from the Camping Registration Links.

    ENTRY RESTRICTIONS

  • What Can't I Bring Into The Festival?
    • Alcohol, softdrinks and opened water bottles of any kind. Sealed water bottles are OK
    • Take away food containers and food therein - lollies and unopened snack packs are OK
    • Guns, knives or any items construed by Security as weapons
    • Glass bottles or glass containers of any kind
    • Pets, except on a leash in camping and muster areas
    • Bad attitude, aggressive, violent, abusive or drunken behaviour as determined by Security regardless of ticket status
    • People without ticketed wristbands, except for Children under 13 years of age at the time of the Festival

    • Absolutely! The Canberra Country Blues & Roots Festival has always included Trucks in the Muster in recognition of the great service provided to all, whether it be local or interstate. We just love truckies!

    DANCING

  • What Types Of Dancing Will I Find @ the Festival?

    • All dance workshops are held during the dance performances and are subject to participant numbers at the time
  • I only want to attend Dancing. Do I need a separate Dance ticket?
    • There are no separate Dance tickets. Your ticket allows access to all activities offered to the general public, including and programmed Dance.

    HORSES

  • Can I Bring My Horse To The Festival?
    • The Canberra Country Blues & Roots Festival is the only urban located music festival in Australia that has facilities to for horses overnight with pens to tether and camp next to. So yes, pony clubs and trail riders are very welcome to ride on in!
    • Horses are not allowed near stages, food stalls, markets or display areas due to high public traffic and health requirements

    PERFORMING @ Canberra Country Blues & Roots Festival

  • How can artists perform @ the Festival?
    • The Canberra Country Blues & Roots Festival gives priority to quality emerging, independent and regional performers who can use the Festival to showcase their talent to diverse and appreciative audiences
    • Performer Submissions are accepted up to 31 July each year
    • Artists can also apply to perform for audience fees at Busker Central
    • If not accepted on the official program, performers are welcome to buy their ticket, bring their musical instrument and put their name down to perform on the Bundy Blackboard Stage @ The Bundy Bar
    • Some performers are invited by the Festival, especially where we know they will draw a substantial audience
    • International performers are welcome and advised to contact the Festival through Sonicbids or direct via email if contemplating visiting Australia in November.
    • All Performers that receive fees and travel expenses must provide invoices stating Australian Business Number (ABN), or receipts indicating GST and complete the Australian Taxation Office Statement By Supplier form where no ABN is held by the performer.
  • Can Performers Sell Their Music / Merchandise @ the Festival?
    • Yes, either directly after the performance or from the Festival Shop
    • The Festival Shop may require a small commission on Performer's CD and merchandise to cover costs of credit card, Efpos and financial fee charges.
  • I missed the Performers Submission Deadline. Please Can I Still Play @ the Festival?
    • Artists can also apply to perform for audience fees at Busker Central
    • Performers can buy their ticket, bring their musical instrument and put their name down to perform on the Blackboard Stage @ The Bundy Bar - but get in early each day
    • We encourage musicians and singers to take a seat, meal and drink and network with others jamming some great Country blues & roots tunes, as you like at the Sessions Stage or Blackboard Stage. This is how it all started.

    VENDORS @ Canberra Country Blues & Roots Festival

  • How can vendors apply to be @ the Festival?
    • The Canberra Country Blues & Roots Festival gives priority to previous vendors where feedback was positive from audiences, performers, volunteers and other vendors.
    • Most of our vendors are from within 300km of Canberra, but we certainly welcome new non-food market vendors from outside this region
    • Food Vendors sites are available for 2012
    • Market and display vendors are welcome to email the Festival so we can send you the relevant booking form.

    VOLUNTEERS

  • How does the volunteer system work?
    • Volunteers earn a 3-Day Weekend Pass by agreeing to work 3 x 4 hour shifts and are asked to indicate their preferred times on the Festival Volunteer Information Brochure and Registration Form.
    • Times available include during pre-festival setup, festival time and post-festival cleanup.
    • Volunteers under 18 years of age need their parents/guardian approval
    • All volunteers must complete a basic OH&S Induction before commencing their shifts
    • When not undertaking their allocated shift, volunteers are free to enjoy the Festival at their leisure
    • Site Orientation is undertaken on the Sunday afternoon preceeding the Festival - Canberra region volunteers are encouraged to attend
    • Many Festival positions are based on the successful organisation of other events, especially National Folk Festival, Summernats, Major Creek, Harrietville, Grabine and Whittlesea Country Blues & Roots Festivals - so if you've volunteered at these before, you will feel at home with the way we work.
